Only four people went to my book signing at PBF 2024. Three were my friends and one was stranger (whoever you are, thank you). But it’s not that that saddened me. I was nobody after all. But even if you’re nobody, the book you want to put out should give you pride. It’s your dream after all.
When ALLFT book was first released, I felt betrayed. I felt betrayed that I didn’t get my money’s worth. And I also felt I betrayed those who bought it because the copy they had was too far from what I envisioned. I won’t go into details, but there’s truth in whatever you hear.
The second edition was not my plan. In fact, I wanted to hop to my next book (I want to write stories of magic!) while production was ongoing. But given the circumstance, the second edition became necessary. That’s to reclaim my hard work of 10 years. That’s to reintroduce my book without me haunted by this “interesting experience”. So, here I am.
Two good things happened though. I got to meet new people, and I discovered that I didn’t just want to write a book. I also wanted to create it. I have to mention that the entirety of this second edition (e.g., its content, format, and design) was all done by me. If only I have the money, I will buy my own machine to print and bind the copies — and buy the copies themselves. Lol.
I won’t say the book is a good book. It is a job inherent to you as readers. But for a self-published author like me, my craft is valuable. And I will uphold that.
